2024 had a good pool of horror movies, ranging from the great A24 “I Saw the TV Glow”, to the Oscar-nominated The Substance and the gory Terrifier 3, amongst many other great movies, so it’s safe to say, we’re expecting even more great movies in 2025 and we came up with the list we’re most expecting for this year in horror:
The Monkey

This feature-film adaptation of Stephen King’s short story from his 1985 Skeleton Crew collection is directed by Osgood Perkins. The story revolves around a sinister monkey toy that becomes a chilling metaphor for terror and panic. Theo James stars as twin brothers Hal and Bill, while Christian Convery portrays them in flashbacks. With James Wan producing and Perkins’ signature eerie atmosphere, horror fans eagerly await this adaptation.
Sinners

Ryan Coogler directs the Southern Gothic horror-thriller Sinners, featuring Michael B. Jordan portraying twin brothers who return to their hometown to confront an evil entity. Blending themes of brotherhood and supernatural peril, this film has become one of the most anticipated thrillers of 2025, thanks to Coogler’s directorial prowess and Jordan’s dual performance.
Until Dawn

David F. Sandberg brings the PlayStation hit Until Dawn to life as a horror feature film. The story follows a group of teenagers trapped in a secluded house, reliving a deadly Groundhog Day-style loop. With Sandberg’s horror expertise and the game’s unique narrative structure, fans are excited to see this cinematic take on a beloved interactive thriller.
28 Years Later

The long-awaited follow-up to 28 Days Later sees Danny Boyle returning as director and Alex Garland as screenwriter. Set 28 years after the Rage virus outbreak, the film stars Ralph Fiennes, Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and potentially Cillian Murphy. This sequel promises to blend nostalgia with fresh frights as it explores the aftermath of societal collapse.

This time, the Predator takes on an anti-hero role, offering a fresh perspective on the series. Trachtenberg’s successful revival of the franchise has made this a highly anticipated addition to the Predator saga.
Screamboat

A horror-comedy spin on Steamboat Willie, Screamboat reimagines the iconic character as a killer navigating a New York City passenger boat. Blending nostalgia with terror and humour, this offbeat premise has garnered buzz for its potential to simultaneously deliver laughs and scares.
The Ritual

Starring Dan Stevens and Al Pacino, The Ritual tells the story of two priests with clashing pasts who must work together to perform an exorcism on a possessed young girl. Directed by David Midell and inspired by real events, the film has generated excitement due to its star-studded cast and supernatural premise.
